MOVIE, “WHAT DREAMS MAY COME”
Last night I watched this movie.
I don’t know why I picked up this.
First of all, to be honest,
I’m not a big fan of Robin (sorry).
I know there are lots of fanatic Robin followers.
But, I don’t know why, I am not.
I guess it started from the movie,
“Dead Poets Society” (OMG, it’s a movie from 1989!).
There’s a funny episode in
90s USA TV sitcom, “FRIENDS”.
The fake Monica said,
FAKE MONICA:
I – I used to be just like you. And then one day
I saw a movie that changed my life.
Did you ever see Dead Poets’ Society?
MONICA: Uh-huh.
FAKE MONICA: I thought that movie was
so incredibly… boring. I mean, that thing
at the end where the kid kills himself because
he can’t be in the play? What was that?!
It’s like, kid, wait a year, leave home,
do some community theatre. I walked out of there
and I thought, ‘Now, that’s two hours of my life
that I’m never getting back’.
Something like that.
Oh well…LOL
To be fair,
though that’s a part of
the reasons,
I think I watched his movies
more than I thought I did.
The titles including, “Noel” and
“License to Wed”.
Oh my.
Whenever I watched his movies,
I saw something painful in him.
He looked so painful.
He looked so unhappy.
He looked desperately
seeking for help.
Even when I watched
“Mrs. Doubtfire”,
I couldn’t help but
feeling so.
Agony.
Sorrow.
I guess that’s the words
I was seeing in his eyes.
Of course, there are
comedians with that
atmosphere.
But, he looked something
overwhelmingly painful
all the time.
I think that’s why
I couldn’t look at him
directly.
Well.
Anyway, this movie.
It’s simply a reversed version of
“La Divina Commedia”.
Dante is going to help
Beatrice with Virgil.
Besides the special effect
in the first half,
nothing was so interesting.
There’s no clear explanation
about why suicide is so sinful
in that world,
why there’s no one came back
from the hell for the people
committed suicide.
AND at the end,
why it was so easy.
Oh well.
