“FUNDOSHI” SIMULATION

2018 年 3 月 11 日 Comments off

The illustration for “Birth Month Fortune-Telling for March”.

To draw this illustration, especially for his “Fundoshi” (Japanese traditional underwear), I actually used 3DCG to simulate how the “Fundoshi” fabric would cover his genitalia.

Seriously LOL.

Then, I just wanted to make this result as the reference for the illustration.

Here is the memo of how I achieved this.

1) Prepare 3D human model using DAZStudio

With the application, it’s not difficult to create this figure.
Then I exported the figure in OBJ file format to simulate “Fundoshi” fabric in 3DCG modeling software, Blender.
I think DAZStudio 4.10 could do the fabric simulation, but didn’t know how.

2) Prepare the figure for the simulation in Blender

This is the image. I used “Dicimate” modifier in Blender to reduce the amount of polygons of the figure.
As the default, the amount was too excessive.
Then made this model as the collision source.

3) Create a simple mesh model as a Fundoshi fabric.

It might look a simple solid plane, but it has many vertexes to mimic the fabric-like movement.
Set it as “Cotton” in the fabric settings in Blender.

4) Simulate

Blender simulated how the “Fundoshi” fabric would cover the genitalia.
Very interesting.

5) Pick up the simulation result that I like.

From the timeline of the simulation, I picked up one moment that I like the most.
Export this object in OBJ file format.

6) Import the Fundoshi OBJ file to DAZStudio and combine with the human figure.

Ta-da!

YES!
